A joint statement was made by the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on the side of today's (Nov 29) UN Security Council meeting.
His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan A.F. Al Furhan Al-Saud, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, told reporters, “We are here to make a clear statement that a truce is not enough. What is needed is a ceasefire. What is needed is a credible peace and a peace that lasts and that allows the Palestinians and Israelis to live side by side in two states. Anything else will result in continuing crisis in the region.”
Asked about allowing Palestinian refugees into other Arab countries, the Saudi Arabian diplomat said, “The Palestinians do not want to leave their land. And we are not going to encourage them or force them to leave their land and we're not going to work with anyone who has that agenda.”
He reiterated, “The Palestinians have a right to their land, and they have a right to live in safety and security and dignity on their land and that is what we will push for and that is what we will work towards.”
The Saudi Arabian diplomat was jointed by H.E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani - Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar; H.E. Mr. Ayman Safadi – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; H.E. Mr. Riad Al-Malki - Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine; H.E. Mrs. Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi - Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia; H.E.
