Dans les années 30, Edmond Bloch était un "juif français patriote", actif en politique. Fin avril 1936, un journal se moqua de lui en ces termes: "On aura tout vu et même davantage. Dans le Front Républicain du IV, journal électoral, le citoyen Edmond Bloch, le juif patriote, est devenu compatriote des Auvergnats. De qui ne deviendra-t-il le compatriote pour piper des voix? Les paris sont ouverts. Mais il nous est permis cependant de nous demander comment un Edmond Bloch, dont le patronyme par ailleurs est très honorable, peut se targuer d’être un descendant de ces Gaulois dont on prétend qu’ils n’étaient pas tous des Juifs."
