Things Jesus ACTUALLY SAID: “Luke 9:23 - And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
*** The jews had 613 rules/laws. Jesus said concerning obeying the law - IT’S NOT ENOUGH: The statement "your righteousness must exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees" (Matthew 5:20) means that a higher standard of righteousness is required for entering the kingdom of heaven than what the Pharisees demonstrated. The Pharisees, known for their strict adherence to the law, achieved a level of external obedience, but Jesus calls for a deeper, inward transformation and a more comprehensive obedience to God's will. The law was to prepare the jews (and us) for Jesus Christ - Galatians 3:23-25 - 23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
