The monthly pilgrimage being escorted by Israel Defense Forces was met with violence, and 1 Palestinian killed in the ensuing clashes.

Dr. Jacques Neriah, a former Deputy Head of Assessment in Israeli Military Intelligence says the increase in Hamas and PIJ activity in the West Bank has made the area more volatile.
