Get this - I believe it was a PUPPET SHOW, and the Stemmons sign is the key. Is there any record of JFK ducking fully into the back seat? From what I can discern, he ducks down, and a puppet of JFK immediately replaces him. Everyone is distracted by the first hint of gunfire. When the puppet materializes, it is already holding its throat, as would be expected from the setup...then POP!
The weasel crawls on the hood to grab the POTENTIAL EVIDENCE.
Or...I expect for YOU to tell me that if you are sitting next to your spouse in a convertible with the top down, and out of nowhere, you're the target in an ambush, that YOUR FIRST INSTINCT IS TO CHECK THE BACK OF THE HOOD FOR PIECES OF YOUR SPOUSE'S SKULL?!?
