John Dee: The Magician and the Devil in Manchester
IN GOD WE TRUST
Published on Apr 21, 2021
It's the birthday of Dr John Dee, the Elizabethan astrologer, magician, and all-round polymath, born in 1527! I thought I'd dig into the archives for this episode from August 2019 to celebrate.
He tried to contact angels, created the Enochian language and - if rumours are to be believed - had the codename 007 when he worked for Queen Elizabeth I.
We'll look at a particular story about Dr Dee from his time in Manchester in this episode of Fabulous Folklore.
If you need captions, I'm working on figuring those out. These podcast episodes are audio versions of blog posts, and you can read the written version of this one here: https://www.icysedgwick.com/john-dee/
