*** TSA Is Checking Your Phone (Delete These 5 Things Before Flying) Check out the details before panicking

*** Even a sworn law enforcement officer needs to have reasonable suspicion under the 4th and 5th Amendments to search your phone. If you are detained and not allowed to leave you ARE under arrest and someone better be reading you your rights. INVOKE your rights. The points made in this video are excellent.
*** No, the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) does not typically search your phone's content, but they can ask you to power it on to show it's operational. The authority to search electronic device content, including your phone, belongs to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), who can do so without a warrant or suspicion when you are entering the United States. However, if a TSA agent believes there's a reason to suspect a device is a threat to aviation security, they may swab the phone for explosives or require you to show it's a working device
*** TSA is NOT law enforcement. They cannot legally search a phone unless there is an OBVIOUS threat (wires hanging out, hearing a conversation that sounds like a threat or if they happen to see a text with threats to safety). TSA has no more powers than an ordinary security guard. Even law enforcement usually has to get a warrant or show exigent circumstances to gain access to a phone. This is not the first time TSA has overstepped their boundaries. They count on people not knowing the law or their rights. They CAN physically take the phone and swab it or look for physical signs. They can even ask you to turn it on to show it is operational. But they CANNOT make you unlock the phone and show contents of the phone.
