*** Euthanasia Program in the Third Reich - The Six Million: Fact or Fiction - Chapter 21 The Euthanasia Program’s “Gas Chambers” Section 203: The Nazi Euthanasia Program, while having nothing at all to do with Jews, has found its way into the overall Holocaust narrative as the supposed “training ground” for “mass gassing” in the “extermination camps.” As such, it is claimed that there were at least six other “gas chambers” in operation in Germany and Austria—even if for a very short period—at which the “mass murder” by “gassing” technique was supposed to have been trialled before being implemented in the “extermination camps” in Poland. The Third Reich’s euthanasia program, which was authorized by Adolf Hitler personally in writing, originated after a German father had written to the Chancellor asking that his son, born blind, retarded, and without an arm and a leg, and deaf, be granted a “mercy death,” or euthanasia. This was known as the “Knauer” case. Moved by the request, Hitler ordered his personal physician, Dr. Karl Brandt, to determine in consultation with the child’s physicians, whether the facts were accurate, and, if so, he was empowered to allow the physicians to grant the child euthanasia. Brandt confirmed the facts of the case, and authorized the family physician concerned to euthanize the Knauer child with a phenol injection. Phenol is a compound which, in small doses, is still used in the medical profession, but its toxicity means that in a large dose, it becomes fatal. In May 1939, Hitler asked Brandt to prepare an advisory committee on how to deal formally wi th such matters. This committee, named (Committee for the Scientific Treatment of Severe, Genetically Determined Illnesses) was empowered with drawing up a scenario to deal with future cases. Much propaganda is made of the Nazi euthanasia program, but the indignation over the Third Reich’s program ignores the fact that, as of 2023, euthanasia is legal in Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, in six states of Australia, and Peru. In addition, “physician-assisted suicide” is legal in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and in 11 US states: California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont, Washington, and Washington, DC.

The greatest threat to Hitler’s survival during the early years of the Third Reich came from the SA, a huge and powerful organization within NSDAP, around 3.5 million-strong, led by Chief of Staff
Ernst Röhm, a known homosexual. The SA was largely responsible for putting Hitler into power, but now in power, things changed. If he was to succeed in implementing his programs, Hitler now needed the support of the industrial and military leaders. The German General Staff despised and detested the SA. The industrialists who had financed Hitler, also detested the SA and saw them as a dangerous bunch of hooligans. Röhm made ma9ers worse for himself by indiscreet remarks about absorbing the German Army into the SA with himself as the commander. The SA was at that time much larger than the Army. This further set the General Staff’s teeth on edge. Several SA leaders, including Röhm, had also been vocal about their socialistic, anti-capitalist sentiments, which neither Hitler, the industrialists, nor the army approved of. The SA were also not very popular with the average German citizen because of their gangster-like, thuggish behavior. Critical and derisive remarks made indiscreetly by Röhm about Hitler, personally, also got out. Röhm began to be seen as a loose cannon whose loyalty could no longer be trusted, and who might even be a threat to Hitler’s leadership. General von Bloomberg and President Paul von Hindenburg advised Hitler he had to do something about Röhm and the SA or they would no longer be able to support him. The industrialists were telling him the same thing. Both Göring and Himmler had already been warning Hitler of a possible coup by Röhm’s SA against Hitler, himself, and he finally decided to act against Röhm and the SA. Hitler began by ordering all SA leaders to a9end a meeting in the Hanselbauer Hotel in the city of Bad Wiessee. There was no explanation of what the meeting was about. Meanwhile, Göring and Himmler were drawing up a list of political enemies outside the SA whom they wanted eliminated. On June 29, 1934, Hitler, accompanied by the SS, arrived at Bad Wiessee where he personally arrested Röhm. During the next 24 hours, 200 other senior SA officers were arrested on their way to Bad Wiessee. Several were shot as soon as they were captured, but others were taken into custody for further consideration. Hitler personally liked Röhm and decided to pardon him because of his past services, but both Göring and Himmler argued against it, advising Hitler he was making a dangerous mistake. Hitler finally relented and decided Röhm must die, but insisted he be given the chance to commit suicide. When Röhm refused, he was shot by two SS men.
