Upon reflection, I recognize that my earlier comment was overly rigid and came across as nit-picking. While there is indeed a legal distinction between pre-trial custody and serving a sentence after conviction, the reality is that Monika did spend ten months in jail, which is a serious and difficult experience in any context. My intention was to clarify terminology, not to diminish or question what she endured.
