OLD TESTAMENT (39 books) The Old Testament was written over roughly a 100-year period and is divided into five sections.
THE NEW TESTAMENT: The 27 books of the New testament are divided into four categories: The Gospels, the Book of Acts, the Letters or Epistles and the Book of Revelation.
