In 1986, talk show host, Phil Donahue, had the exclusive American television interview with the only son of Nazi Dr. Josef Mengele, the Angel of Death from Auschwitz. Investigative reporter and author, Gerald Posner, had co-authored his first book, a biography of Dr. Mengele, published that same year. Posner interviewed Rolf Mengele for his book and published for the first time the diaries of the Nazi fugitive father.

One television critic called this show 'riveting,' a must-watch confrontation of the son of a notorious Nazi war criminal over the moral obligations and questions about what comes first, loyalty to family or a duty to the victims of crimes.
