*** LATE SUBMISSION due to weather-related problems
*** Jim’s crunch snow walk and dealing with various system fallures
*** Assumed issue with electric pole plugs and the two mandatory breakers for the water heater shed and outdoor spigot - just ‘force’ the breaker to hold and it did and the shed and water spigot heaters worked. Water heater shed heater THAWS the pipes.
*** Getting a hold of Propane people (after having left 2 series of messages yesterday, trying to reach them this morning, finally did at 11a. She said we were on the list. They showed our gauge as having 40. My gauge read 35. I appreciated them knowing but also mentioned their gauge isn’t calibrated to mine. The generator blows warm air out of the vents, so thawed the cat water and rugs for the porch.
*** Then after thawing the pipes JUST IN TIME from the freeze, and having amazing water pressure, it all stopped. Diane thought there was a pipe leak but no evidence of that nor did there seem to be an issue with a pipe burst in the street. Diane called the neighbor whose wife was involved in the association of water/electricity for the area to learn that the water company’s generator ‘failed’ and they were working to restore its function (would seem that this would be anticipated what with the weather warning WAY in advance). This occurred about 1p. Have saved water (2/3 full) in my gallon wine bottles under the porch, and they had not frozen. This was for washing, commode use. Refilled them when the water came back. Truly it IS warmer under the house because of the siding.
*** Cats were in the house after venturing out a bit. Temp is 30 degrees, which is warm for here, and things are thawing. Drying rugs on which the cats walk. (Temps tonight to go down to 20, then up into the upper 30s, lower 40s tomorrow - each day increases back to what we are accustomed.
