Join the British Army ‐ Irish Rebel Song (Lyrics)
Warrior88
Published on Oct 21, 2025
This rebel song was sung by The Battering Ram and the footage is from the film In the Name of the Father. The lyrics address the concerns of a young man reconsidering his decision of joining the British Army. From verse to verse, examples are given as to why the young man wants to leave the British Army. The song is of Irish origin and has circulated both inside and outside the army since Victorian times. Singers would insert the names of those British soldiers they disliked.
