*** Sarin gas - developed in Germany in 1938 by the chemical and pharmaceutical company IG Farben, initially for use as a pesticide. It was later transferred to the chemical warfare section of the German Army Weapons Office. Sarin is a highly toxic organophosphate compound that has been used as a chemical weapon in various conflicts, including the Iran-Iraq War and the Tokyo subway attack in 1995. (But Germany NEVER used it nor did they use what would have been the MOST lethal gas, MOST effective if extermination had been the goal.
