Wilhelm II (1859–1941) was the last German Emperor (Kaiser) and King of Prussia, ruling from 1888 to 1918. He was known for his ambitious foreign policy and militarism, which contributed to the tensions that led to World War I. After Germany’s defeat, he abdicated (gave up his throne) and went into exile in the Netherlands.
